Michael Nutter Joins Perspectives' Board of Directors

Philadelphia, PA—August 29, 2007-Perspectives Debate Inc. ("Perspectives") is proud to announce the addition of Michael Nutter to the organizations' Board of Directors.

Since graduating from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Nutter has served as a member of the City Council and the City Board of Trusts and has been Chairman of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority Board. During his time in City Council, Mr. Nutter helped lead efforts in countless economic and legislative measures to improve the quality of life for people and businesses in Philadelphia. Mr. Nutter is currently the Democratic Nominee for Mayor of Philadelphia in the mayoral election this fall.

In supporting Perspectives, Mr. Nutter notes that "Creating opportunities for students to further develop the critical skills for academic success, enhancing their prospects for a college education and preparing them for life are very important. Your partnership with so many schools in this City is an invaluable resource. I am grateful to you for your investment in and commitment to young people and the City."

Perspectives promotes youth debate education in the greater Philadelphia area through its Afterschool, Saturday Seminars, summer debate institute, and other programs. Debate programs provide opportunities for both students and teachers to broaden their horizons and provide a forum for academic excellence and growth. Studies show that students who participate in debate score higher on standardized tests and have a much higher likelihood of being accepted to college. Mr. Nutter's support for Perspectives shows his support for the values of high school debate and his dedication to promoting youth discourse and education.
