Now in its 4th year, the Philadelphia Debate Institute is the nation’s #1 nonprofit Lincoln-Douglas debate program. Held August 17-24, 2008, at Drexel University in Philadelphia, the 2008 Philadelphia Debate Institute will bring together 56 students and 18 faculty members for a life-changing week. In addition to intensive preparation on the September-October 2008 LD debate topic, students will hone their writing, critical thinking, and speaking abilities to a superior level, work with experienced debate educators to capitalize on strengths and improve weaknesses, and increase their knowledge of philosophy, history, and current events to supplement their debate education.

In the process of the summer debate institute, students will have the opportunity to receive college preparation, learn from distinguished professionals about college and careers, and receive mentorship from former debaters. It is our experience that students gain their best friends in high school from our summer debate program, and leave with lifelong friends.

We invite you to learn more about the Philadelphia Debate Institute, and hope that you will make it part of your summer plan!
